Bon Odori Carnival 2008

Am I in Japan?
Hahaha..... No no, This photo was taken in Penang.
There was Bon Odori Carnival at Esplanade, Penang on 19 July 2008. Bon Odori is a traditional Japanese festival with dance and drum performances held to welcome the homecoming of ancestral spirits.

It's organized by the Japanese Expatriate & Immigrant's Society in Malaysia. This festival is the Japanese counterpart of the Chinese's Hungry Ghost Festival. We could enjoy hordes of Japanese food, drinks, art and dance in this festival.

Most of the Japanese wore Yukata to the festival. The Yukata is a casual form of kimono that is also frequently worn after bathing at traditional Japanese inns. Thought their use is not limited to after-bath wear, Yukata literally means bath(ing) clothes.

We need to buy a voucher to purchase all the foods and drinks

He really enjoyed himself when he arrived there, just one day before he started his work.

Thanks to Chiali to accompanied me while Joseph was not around.

I Miss Him

It has been 4 days since Joseph went to Japan for his company trip. I stay at home with mother in law.

Usually I get up in the morning and prepare breakfast for him. At the evening, I wait for him come back from office, and I feel very happy to see him home.

These 4 days, I didn’t need to do my responsibility as a wife. I should be happy for that, in fact I’m not. I miss Joseph; miss my breakfast preparation for him. And in the evening, I have no body to wait for. There is no tired face and smile for me.

I wept badly when I sent him to airport and couldn’t stop my tears.

I read a pregnant book; it says that pregnant women usually become more emotional and easily cry. Maybe I wept badly because I’m pregnant, or our baby feels very sad to know his daddy won’t be here for 6 days.

The Most Important Nutrient For Children

Today at the kindergarten, I saw something that made me smile.
One of the teachers encouraged the children to drink a lot of water with an interesting trick.

Teacher will start by saying, “One… Two… Three….”

And they say “Go!” At the same time, they take their water tumbler and drink it.

They repeat it many times, and they really enjoy it and have fun.

Children
have smaller bodies, but it does not mean they need less of water. Water is in fact one of the most important nutrients for children.

Water not only keeps children healthy, but also will help them perform better in school. Long-term chronic dehydration may cause health problems and illnesses.

Because many schools have inadequate water resources, parents and teachers should regularly encourage children to drink water at home, and even bring their own to school. Children should especially drink water after taking part in sports, such as in gym class.

A small degree of dehydration can lead to a reduction of mental and physical performance. It can lead to poor concentration in the classroom, which could mean not as much participation, and even lower test scores.

Another reason why children should drink up is that their thirst mechanisms are less developed than adults', and tend to appear after dehydration has already set in. Children should therefore be encouraged to drink water even if they are not thirsty. Headaches, irritability and sleepiness are often signs of dehydration. Of course, children are bombarded with ads of cool soft drinks, but parents, please note that water is a far better choice.
